What is a children's consignment sale?
A children's consignment sale is a temporary, seasonal event featuring thousands of gently-used children's items such as clothes, books, toys, equipment and more. All merchandise is well-organized with all sizes and items grouped together, similar to a consignment store, and everything is very reasonably priced. A seasonal consignment sale is a wonderful alternative to running around to yard sales or paying higher prices at a consignment store. Do you have any tips for shoppers?
Please bring reusable tote bags and/or laundry baskets to hold your selections while you're shopping. We will repack your purchased items into the tote bags or basket. We do provide plastic bags to shoppers if needed, but would prefer to limit their use as much as possible.

- If you need any help with your items, just ask. We have lots of sale helpers on the floor -- just look for anyone in a red shirt with a nametag.
- All clothing items will be hanging on racks and sorted by gender and size. Boys items are on one set of racks, and girls items are on another set. The only clothing items that are not on hangers are hats, gloves/mittens, accessories such as socks and belts, and bagged onesies and bibs.
- Be sure to go to all areas of the floor to check out all the items. There will be thousands of clothes, toys, nursery, feeding and sporting items for kids of all ages! If you can't find what you're looking for, just ask a sale helper in a red shirt!
- Make a list of all the items that you need, including clothing and shoe sizes of each child. There are so many items available on the sales floor that it can be overwhelming and easy to forget what you intended to shop for. Don't forget that we also have essential infant items such as receiving blankets, crib bedding, and feeding items.
- Plan ahead for future needs! If you're shopping for your 18-month-old, look ahead at the 2Ts, 3Ts and more for next year.
- We have an big item area for large items you plan to purchase. It is right next to the "Big Stuff" area where strollers, outdoor toys, etc. are located. If you find a large item you would like to purchase, bring it there where you can purchase it.
- If you shop early, we highly recommend that you come back for a second visit for the Half-Price Sale that starts at Noon. The sales floor, tables and racks will be less crowded, and you will be able to see many items that weren't visible before. Plus you can get some amazing bargains!
- Please note that we cannot mark down the prices that are marked on the tags (except during the Half-Price Sale, when items marked "Discount: Yes" on the tag will be 50% off). Please do not ask the cashier or floor workers to discount any items.
- Please supervise your children and do not allow them to play with the toys for sale. We highly recommend not bringing children with you, if at all possible. The sale floor can be very, very crowded, especially when the sale first opens, plus there are lots of tempting toys within reach, and you may have to wait in the checkout line for a while if you shop early.
- Please review your items before bringing them to the cashier; this saves time for everyone. If there are any items you don't want, just hand them to any worker and she will put them back in the right area. Please don't leave unwanted items in corners, under tables, or on the floor.
- We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover, and debit cards with the Visa and Mastercard symbols. We do not accept personal checks or American Express.
- The checkout line can be long at times, especially during the first hour or two of the sale, but it moves fast! We have 6-8 people de-tagging items and 6-8 cashiers checking out customers, so you may be surprised at how quickly you move right along in the line. Don't be worried if you see the checkout line backs up into the sales floor; we always ask customers how long they waited and the average is about 20 minutes, even when the line is very long. We know you have places to go and children to watch, and our focus is to get you out of the line and on with your day as quickly as possible!
- We always have a HUGE selection of books at the Kids Tag Sale. Don't forget to check out the Book section and replenish your library. You will find board books, picture books, chapter books, and parenting books, plus music CDs and movies.
How is the Chelmsford Mothers' Club Kids Tag Sale different from other local consignment sales?
The CMC Kids Tag Sale was chosen the Boston Parents Magazine's family Favorite Consignment Event in 2017!!!
The CMC Kids Tag Sale sale is truly a win-win event for the public, our members, and local charities. Our sale is arranged as a benefit for our members, who receive 85% of the sales price of their items (most for-profit sales give 50-60%). Most unsold items are donated to charity. Over the past few years, our members have given several truck loads of gently-used children's items to the Lowell Wish Project, the Anne Sullivan Center, and the Chelmsford Food Ministry. Also, the Chelmsford Mothers' Club has donated profits from past sales to various Chelmsford nonprofit organizations, including the Chelmsford Library, the Lowell Wish Project, and the Chelmsford Open Space Stewards. Lastly, we all benefit because the more children's items that we all recycle and re-use, the less that end up in landfills.
