Can anyone sell at the Kids Tag Sale?
Our seller spots are open only to members of the Chelmsford Mothers' Club. However, ANYONE can join the CMC, for only $35 per year.  (Our average seller makes over $450 per sale and sells 80% of their items, so the annual membership fee is a good investment!)  Plus, there are many other benefits to the Chelmsford Mothers' Club, including an active email list and Facebook group, a large group of caring, knowledgeable, supportive moms and dads, Mom's Nights Out, children's activities, monthly meetings and more.  If you join the CMC, your spouse or partner is also automatically a member and can volunteer at the Kids Tag Sale to earn a pass to the presale.

The Chelmsford Mothers' Club is a nonprofit organization for those who self-identify as mothers of young children in Chelmsford and all communities in the greater Lowell area. We have over 250 members from Chelmsford, Billerica, Lowell, Dracut, Dunstable, Westford, Tyngsborough, Tewksbury, Nashua, Townsend, Pepperell, Fitchburg, Acton, Carlisle, Bedford and many other communities. Please see the Membership page at www.chelmsfordmothersclub.org for information on how to join
Why don't you accept sellers who are not members of the Chelmsford Mothers' Club?
The main purpose of the Kids Tag Sale is to be a benefit for our members, to provide them with a place to sell their unneeded children's items, to earn a reasonable return on those items, and to easily donate their remaining items to worthy causes.
Is there a fee for members who want to sell?
Yes, there is a $30 seller registration fee.
How does it all work?
  • Register to be a seller online.
  • Enter all your gently-used children's items that are eligible to be sold (see the list in the Guidelines) into our online system. This includes clothing (size preemie to 10); shoes; books; DVDs; toys; games; equipment such as strollers, high chairs, pack and plays, bouncy seats, swings, etc.; outdoor toys; sports equipment; nursery, bathing, and feeding items; blankets; and some large furniture. All items must be clean and gently-used with no rips, holes or stains. Battery-operated items must work, although you don't need to include batteries. Puzzles and games should be complete with all pieces. You may not sell cribs, car seats, breast pumps, stuffed animals or any recalled item.
  • If you would like your items discounted during the Half-Price Sale, please check the Discount box when entering your item into the online inventory system. 
  • Using the online system, print your tags onto white (donate) or yellow (do not donate) card stock, cut the tags, and attach them to your items.
  • Tags on any hanging item should be attached to the left sleeve (which is on your right when you're looking at the garment). You may use your tagging gun or safety pins to attach the tags.
  • All clothing, with the exception of hats, gloves/mittens, and bagged socks and onesies, should be on hangers.
  • All items should be dropped off at the sale location the night before the sale. You should arrive with all your items organized into sizes and categories. You will need to put all your items in the appropriate locations on the sales floor. There will be helpers to assist you, but you should estimate that dropoff will take an hour. Children are not permitted on the sales floor during dropoff. 
  • As items are purchased at the sale, we will detach the bottom part of each tag. During the sale, all tags will be scanned into the online system and your total sales will be calculated.  Each seller will receive a check for 85% of her total sales after 30 days and you will know your sales total within two weeks after the sale. $30 plus 15% of the total sales is kept by the CMC to cover expenses. 
  • The Committee suggests that a consignor have at least 50 items to sell as they will most likely make the sellers fee and a profit. 
  • Pricing suggestions are available here. All items must be priced in multiples of 50 cents.
  • ALL sellers are required to work at the sale for a 4-hour shift.
As a seller, will I get the chance to shop early?
Yes, all sellers may shop during the pre-sale from 7 - 8:30 PM on Friday, September 13th. You may not shop during the drop-off evening.
